1950s Main Building Dorm Room

This exhibit provides a reasonably accurate image of how a 1950s Main Building dorm room might have looked. Authentic to the time period are the chests of drawers, mirrors, study desk, chairs, rug, lightshade, lamp, books, papers, pictures, jewelry, clothing, and other misc. small personal effects.

At one time, Main Building housed all of the major functions of the college, including the administrative offices, the classrooms, the chapel, and the students' dorm rooms. In fact, it was not until the early to mid-1970s that all of the dorm rooms in Main Building were finally phased out.
