The prize for the December 2002 "WHAT IS IT?" goes to Christine Whittington, Director of Library Services. Pictured above is a photo (1911) of the "Senior Book Burial." This was a relatively short-lived tradition (early 20th century) in which the senior class girls would bury their text books. In 1911, Miss Winnie Burton even went so far as to compose a funeral oration for the senior books.
