Answer to October 2007
WHAT IS IT?

No one was able to give exactly the right answer to the October 2007 "WHAT IS IT?". Several people answered that it was part of a graduation ceremony. To be more precise, however, it is a specific part of a graduation ceremony... a special ritual which had its own name.

Pictured above is a graduation day daisy chain, circa 1930s. As a part of of the commencement ceremony, a group of young ladies not of the graduating class would be chosen to carry the daisy chain. Being chosen to participate in carrying the daisy chain was a priviledge extended to those young ladies who demonstrated exceptional leadership, class spirit, and involvement.
