& Interpretive: Although this journal does contain some personal writings,
it seems to be primarily a writing assignments journal. It appears that as part
of her English class, Miss Chandler was required to periodically practice her
writing skills by choosing topics of her choice and writing a short amount. Topics
that Miss Chandler wrote about include the following: Government of the Tongue,
Education, Early Rising, Sympathy, Honest Labour, Miseries of Idleness, Horses,
Table Vegetables, and the Sun. In all, Miss Chandler wrote about twenty-one different
