Books Summary:
During the early 1900s, the College published what were called View Books.
View Books consisted primarily of images of the campus landscape, buildings (some
exteriors, some interiors), and, later on, the College's students engaged in various
activities. Sometimes the view books were published separately, and other times
they were published as an issue of the College Bulletin. There are viewbooks
for the following years: c.1900, c.1910, 1918, 1924, 1930, and 1934.
Interpretive:
The College's view books are useful not only because they show what campus
looked like during the late 1800s and early 1900s, but also because some of the
view books show students engaging in a variety of activities. It is this "active"
imagery that allows for a greater understanding of what life was like here at
the College during that time frame. Status:
